Why dental extraction is needed? 

When a teeth is in such a condition that by any restorative treatment it can’t be saved .Dental extraction needs to be done. Why it is needed? What is the tooth extraction cost ? As you read ahead you will find out. Whenever a tooth extraction is done thinking about the replacement of it also a part of the treatment plan. Replacement option like dental implant or bridge needs to be decided, In some cases like orthodontic extractions and wisdom tooth extraction these replacements are not needed . 

Why dental extraction is needed? 

When your tooth is infected involving the major portion of the crown and root is involved the tooth is indicated for tooth removal. Another reason for tooth extraction could be a vertical facture in your tooth that has caused splitting of the tooth. Sometimes for orthodontic treatment we need to do extraction of pre molars to relive the crowding and align teeth in a perfect manner. Third molars or wisdom tooth is also indicated to be removed if placed in a position that is hurting the check of the patient or in cases it is places in a way which is difficult to clean and causing food lodgment and decaying the adjacent molar. 

Is tooth removal painful? 

Teeth removal is not a painful process as it is done under local anesthesia . The first step in the extraction process is to take medical history of the patient if the patient is diabetic or has hypertension extra precaution need to be taken .  drug history is also taken as heart patients on blood thinners may have complications in healing and blood clotting if on blood thinners .Patient is first given a local anesthesia anesthetizing the nerve supplying the tooth . Then the numbness in the area is checked by the instrument once the area is completely numbed. The instruments are used to slowly luxate the tooth from the socket. There is no forceful pulling of the tooth the tooth extraction at coral dental is smooth and done slowly as per the patients comfort and is a painless process. 

Post dental extraction instructions 

Once tooth extraction is done the patient is supposed to eat cold and soft food for the first 24 hours and no spitting or heavy exercise is recommended. Smoking and drinking is prohibited for a week. The patients depending upon the grade of infection is given antibiotics for next 3 or 5 days depending upon any systemic condition like diabetes or hypertension present after 24 hours the patient is asked to do warm salt rinses for better healing of the socket. After one week the patient is called for a follow up if suture is given its removal is done if not a general follow up to see the progress and cleaning the socket with a betadine rinse.

The cost of a normal tooth extraction lies btw 4-6 k depending upon the tooth and infection . A third molar extraction is a complex surgery and hence is done by a oral surgeon and costs around 7-10 k
